Problems and Issues in Politics and Economics - [Course Description]
This course is designed to allow students the opportunity to develop their abilities as citizens to explore, discuss, and make informed decisions related to local, state, national, and international issues. Students will engage in daily readings, discussions, and debates on domestic and international issues. Information will be pulled from a multitude of resources including USA Today, Newsweek, television broadcasts, and the Internet. Writings, journal entries, and group activities may also be used as strategies to reflect on the issues presented in these media resources. In addition, students will receive instruction related to core political and economic concepts that enable them to better understand our political and economic systems. All students will be required to complete a final course project that will require them to apply the knowledge they have acquired in this course.
